The holiday season is upon us, and many area towns and cities have their own tree lighting ceremonies. Other holiday traditions are also observed. In Garner, Mayor Tim Schmidt explained that his city had several events culminating in the tree lighting celebrations.
Mary was enthusiastic to participate in the event and according to Schmidt, gladly joined he joined the Mayor to perform a very special duty, launching Christmas in Garner.
The tree is adorned with blue lights and will be lit through the Christmas season.
