HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: GHV boys end season, GHV girls fall to IFA

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys soccer team traveled to North Fayette Valley Monday night but fell in the Class 1A District-2 first round.

NFV scored four goals in the first half and four more in the second half for the victory and advanced to play top-seeded GCGR, Gladbrook-Reinbeck.

The GHV girls soccer team took the field against Iowa Falls-Alden last night with a chance to win the conference championship. A season that wasn’t even certain to happen, but after Matt Frank stepped up to be the head coach and with only 13 players on the roster, the Cards were one goal off a conference championship.

GHV led IFA 2-0 at halftime, but IFA fired back, scoring three goals in the second half to win the North Central Conference championship, 3-2 in a game watched live at KIOW.com.
