Winnebago County to Replace Vote Tabulating Machines

The Winnebago County Election Commissioner has received permission to purchase new equipment for the upcoming school elections. Election Commissioner Karla Weiss asked the board to make the purchase to replace the aging systems she had for previous elections.

The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of the equipment in their meeting earlier this week.

The Supervisors learned that there were a number of decade old election machines that needed to be replaced due to their age and efficiency.

According to Weiss, only the tabulation machines will be replaced. Handicap and service machines will remain in the inventory for the next voting cycles.

Weiss is hopeful that the delivery of the scanners will arrive in time to train election staff on their usage before the next school elections.
