Dual County Sanitarian Proposed

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors addressed the issue of sharing their Sanitarian with Winnebago County. Ron Kvale is retiring at the end of the fiscal year and Winnebago County will need to replace him. The Winnebago County Public Health Department came up with the idea after they failed to find an adequate replacement.

Hancock County Public Health Director Chelcee Schleuger explained to the Hancock County Board that a 28E Sharing Agreement needed to be drawn up to have the dual position in place.

The Sanitarian was a part-time position with either county. The agreement now makes it so he is eligible for government benefits as the two part-time positions will add up to 40 hours a week and combined into a full-time role.

Winnebago County has already approved the measure and the Hancock County Board of Supervisors moved to approve it on Tuesday during their regular weekly meeting.
