STATE TRACK AND FIELD: Day 1 Recap

It was an exciting day in Des Moines, the first day of the 2023 Iowa High School State Co-Ed Track and Field Championship.

This evening, the area collected a state championship when Reese Brownlee ran 56.34 in the Class 3A 400m run. It’s Clear Lake’s first running girls state championship since 2011. Brownlee won the Class 2A girls long jump title last year and will get a chance for the 3A long jump crown tomorrow.

Mason City’s James Fingalsen won a state medal in the Class 4A boys 400 m race.

We saw school records go down as well.

The Forest City girls 4×800 team came in seeded first and finished fourth overall in a school record time of 9:46.41.
