HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Lake Mills and Forest City boys end seasons

The district golf meets were played yesterday at sites around the state. Forest City and Lake Mills were in two different Class 2A Districts.

Forest City was in Okoboji but ended its season in sixth place with a team score of 357. Tommy Miller led the Indians, firing a round of 11-over 83 on the par-72 course. Ty Dillavou and Jack Harms tied with rounds of 17-over 89s.

Boyden Hull won the district with a 321. First through fourth places were separated by just four strokes. Osage finished fourth with a 325, OABCIG finished third with a 323, and Western Christian fired a second-place round of 1-back, 322.

Leo Klapperich of Osage won the individual title, besting defending Class 2A champ Axton Miller of OABCIG. Klapperich finished with an even par-72, while Miller fired two over 74.


At Fox River Golf Course in Dike, the defending Class 1A state champs were in a dogfight and won’t return to the state tournament.

Grundy Center won a district that mirrored the state tournament – they scored 296. Lake Mills finished in fifth place with a team score of 316.

Garrett Ham went +2 74 but will miss the state cut, as Cody Weaver, a freshman from East Marshall, went -4 68 for the victory. He and Max Schuchmann, a sophomore from Waterloo Columbus, are the individual advancers; Schuchmann went +1 73, a stroke ahead of Ham.

Along with Grundy Center, Hudson, with a 308, will advance as a team.
