Ernst Reacts to SCOTUS Pork Ban

As you may have seen, today, the Supreme Court upheld a California federal court’s decision to dismiss a lawsuit from the National Pork Producers Council and the American Farm Bureau Federation that challenged a 2018 ballot initiative banning in-state sales of pork from pigs raised in certain production conditions.

Iowa is the number one pork-producing state in the U.S. As a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) released the following statement:

Extremists in liberal states like California shouldn’t be allowed to BAN OUR BACON and punish hardworking Iowa pork producers with overreaching policies. Disappointed in SCOTUS decision on Prop 12. I’ll keep fighting for #Iowa farmers!
