Environmental Education Center Construction Progresses

Nature lovers and those that love to explore and learn more about it are anxiously awaiting the completion of the Winnebago County Environmental Education Center just north of Leland. The project is well underway according to Winnebago County Conservation Board President Robert Schwartz.

The Conservation Board has been very busy trying to raise funds for the new facility and Schwartz appreciates all those who have donated so far.

Schwartz approached the Winnebago County Board of Supervisors about possibly utilizing pandemic relief funds to pay for part of the construction. Schwartz stated that they needed some of the money, as construction bills are coming due.

The board was concerned about the pandemic relief funding being used before other options like money from the Winnebago County Conservation Foundation were used.

Schwartz continues to work with grantors and donations to help pay for the center.
