Leland Edward was born on June 2, 1941 to Edward and Fannie (Landon) Halfpop in the Goodell area. He attended school at Kanawha Community Schools and graduated in 1959. He played football in high school and was very active in 4-H and FFA throughout his childhood showing dairy cattle at the county and state fairs. Lee and Susan Watne were united in marriage on June 23, 1961 in Belmond, IA. Lee spent his adult life farming and driving a semi-truck all over the U.S. and he thoroughly enjoyed both careers. As he transitioned into retirement, Lee and Susan started the apple orchard and their love for the local farmer markets.

Lee spent countless hours working on various 4-H and FFA livestock projects with his children, where he took great pride in his family raising cows, pigs, and sheep on the farm. Lee was an avid lifelong collector of John Deere toys, Hamm’s Beer and Coca Cola memorabilia, all things Snoopy, and many, many other items. He loved to snowmobile when he was younger and even had a motorcycle to ride on the weekends until he tipped it over and Sue made him “get rid of it”. Some of his favorite past-times were to “putter” around the farm in his machine shop, roam around the raspberry field and apple orchard, and stop by friend’s homes to chat for a bit (or 3 hours), and his four-legged companion, Gus.

Leland is survived by his children, Robert (Debra) Halfpop of Belmond, Renee Uhlenhopp of Wellington, CO, Rodney (Sherri) Halfpop of Garner, Ryan Halfpop and (special friend, Heather) of Goodell, Randy (Tina) Halfpop of Fort Collins, CO and Rachelle (Anthony) Johnson of Renwick. Grandchildren, Corey Halfpop, Clarissa Halfpop, Chelsey Halfpop, Cheri Halfpop, Kyle Uhlenhopp, Karter Uhlenhopp, Jamie (Halfpop) Trenhaile and Jesse Halfpop, Britany Stroble, Breana Halfpop, Brylee Halfpop, Kayla Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Kolten Johnson and Kaden Johnson, 21 great-grandchildren, brother Keith (Karen) Halfpop and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lee was preceded in death by his wife Susan, parents Edward & Fannie Halfpop, grand-daughter Kenlee Sue Uhlenhopp, and his brother Roger Halfpop, 5 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law.

Memorials are suggested to The Family of Leland Halfpop, P.O. Box 224, Belmond, IA 50421.

Funeral arrangements are being completed with the Andrews Funeral Homes, Belmond, IA.
