Sunday Talk: Feenstra on the Past Week

In this week’s roundup: Advocating for permanent E-15 sales year-round, demanding President Biden slash wasteful spending, and celebrating National Police Week. That and more – remember to follow my Facebook page by clicking here and my Twitter page by clicking here to stay up-to-date throughout the week!

ADVOCATING FOR E-15 SALES AT THE GAS STATION 365 DAYS A YEAR — PERMANENTLY

President Biden has weaponized his office to hinder American energy production and make gas more expensive for our families.
In the Midwest, we have the antidote to Biden’s energy crisis: homegrown American ethanol.

Blessed with an abundant supply of domestic energy sources, American families should always have access to affordable gasoline 365 days a year. In the United States — where we used to produce more energy than we could consume — filling up at the gas station shouldn’t break the bank, energy shortages shouldn’t be common, and our Strategic Petroleum Reserve shouldn’t be drained for political purposes.

Regrettably, through the power of the pen, President Biden has intentionally weaponized his office to hinder American energy production and make gas more expensive for our families. Already facing higher prices, rising interest rates, and economic uncertainty spurred by President Biden’s wasteful spending policies, our families cannot afford his relentless attacks on American energy. Instead, our energy policies must reflect our ironclad commitment to lower energy costs for Americans and restore American energy dominance.

DEMANDING PRESIDENT BIDEN GET OUR FISCAL HOUSE IN ORDER

I was proud to join Speaker Kevin McCarthy, along with my House and Senate Republican colleagues, in demanding that President Biden address our debt crisis.
House Republicans passed our Limit, Save, Grow Act to end wasteful spending and protect taxpayers. Now, it’s time for Biden to come to the table and reduce our nearly $32-trillion national debt.
MY WORK TO SAVE AM RADIO
Over 45 million Americans listen to AM radio, including many of my constituents in the 4th District. We rely on AM radio for local news, weather updates, and emergency alerts.
That’s why I joined Representatives Greg Pence and Bob Latta to request automakers keep AM radio so that our families can stay informed.
INTRODUCING THE ACCESS TO CREDIT FOR OUR RURAL ECONOMY ACT
Over the last few years, rising interest rates and record inflation have increased operating costs for our farmers, stifled young producers from entering agriculture, and prevented families in rural America from securing a home mortgage.
We need to give our main street lenders much-needed flexibility to offer agricultural and home loans at affordable rates to grow our rural communities.
I’m proud to work with Rep. Wiley Nickel of North Carolina to ensure that our family farmers have access to the capital they need to remain profitable, and our families have the financial support they need to plant their roots in rural Iowa.
MEETING WITH IOWA FAMILY BUSINESSES
I enjoyed chatting with 4th District family businesses about priorities that are important to our main streets and rural economy.
We covered my work on the House Ways and Means Committee to reauthorize the 20% qualified business income deduction for small businesses and support our job creators.
I will continue to be a strong voice for our small businesses so that our main streets and communities can thrive.
MY OP-ED ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S UNFAIR MORTGAGE FEE HIKE ON RESPONSIBLE HOMEOWNERS
Thanks to President Biden’s failed economic agenda, the dream of homeownership has quickly dissipated for many Americans.
That’s why I recently cosponsored the Free Market Mortgage Act to repeal Biden’s mortgage fee hike on responsible homeowners. Families who have forgone luxuries to purchase a home and worked diligently to protect their credit scores should not be punished for their financial prudence.
BANNING CHINA FROM PURCHASING AMERICAN FARMLAND
I’m proud to have folks like Darcy – who share my serious concerns about China – on my Agriculture Advisory Board.
In Congress, I’m leading the charge to ban China from buying American farmland because American farmland belongs to American farmers.
ONE MORE THING: BEWARE OF MEDICARE FRAUD!
Many folks have contacted my office with cases of Medicare fraud, particularly COVID-19 over-the-counter test kits.
If you receive a COVID-19 test kit in your mail without ordering it, please contact my office at 515-302-7060.
