Forest City Addresses Street Pavement Improvements

The Forest City Council has been looking to make a series of street improvements over the last few years. Some of the projects have been cut from previous years simply because of budget constraints. That status has changed according to Jason Peterson, Office Manager with Veenstra and Kimm Engineering, Incorporated.

The Country Club Heights area includes three streets, Dellwood Drive, Fairview
Drive, and Oakmont Drive.  The existing paving is in poor condition. There is very limited existing storm sewer which is located at the intersection of Dellwood and Oakmont. The Country Club Heights area recently had municipal sanitary sewer installed throughout and the water distribution system is not in need of replacement per City Staff.

The agreement between the engineering firm and the city covers the entire project from designing to construction. According to Peterson, there is a lot of work which needs to be done.

Work on the road is going to take place this summer and the city was presented with an estimated cost from Peterson.

The city accepted the project and will move forward with the work.
