The Kanawha City Council took into consideration the age of some of the equipment which is used by the Kanawha Volunteer Fire Department. As some equipment ages, it becomes ineffective according to Kanawha Mayor Gloria Sobek.
Keeping equipment current such as oxygen tanks, foam extinguishers, and other items current is invaluable in fighting fires. Sobek stated that it was important for the city to make this move.
The city council passed the measure for the benefit of its residents and the fire department.
