28th Waterloo Honor Flight Heads to Washington, DC Wednesday

The 28th Waterloo Honor Flight will depart Wednesday morning from the Waterloo Airport.

Organizer Craig White says the flight out at 6:30 a.m. will be the start of a long, but memorable day for some 90 Vietnam and Korean War veterans headed to Washington, D.C.

David Seckar of Charles City is making his first Honor Flight and served in the Air Force.

Scott Lake of Waterloo along with his brothers, Steve and Tim all served in the Army and are making the trip together.

Veterans along with some 70 guardians are scheduled to arrive in D.C. at about 9:30 a.m. local time Wednesday.  Their itinerary includes visits to or drive-bys the IWO JIMA Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Women’s Museum for WWII Memorial, plus the Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean, Martin Luther King and Air Force Memorials.

The Honor Flight is scheduled to return to Waterloo by around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
