The Belmond City Council was presented with a proposed ordinance regarding the usage of electric bicycles and micromobility devices. Belmond City Manager Cody Nicholas addressed the council on the issue by clarifying the intent of the measure.
Nicholas clarified that this does not include a wheelchair or a golf cart. It does include electric bicycles and electric scooters. It did cover basic rules.
It also defines where the bikes and scooters are not permitted to be ridden.
The council heard the first reading of the measure and proceeded to waive the second and third readings in order to adopt the measure.
