Brenda Mae (Dinger) was born on January 14, 1952 at the United States Air Force Base Hospital in Burtonwood, Lancashire, England to parents Glenn and Lois (Klobassa) Dinger. She was one of twin daughters, proud to share the day with her sister Beth. She was confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa, and graduated from Riceville High School in 1970. Brenda went on to attend Lakeshore Technical Institute in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, obtaining her Optometric Assistant degree in 1971, making her one of the first in the state of Iowa.

She was married to Kermit Singelstad on August 27, 1983 at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, and they welcomed a son Kristoffer on January 23, 1984. Brenda always said that having Kris as a son was the best thing that ever happened to her.

The family lived in Lake Mills where Brenda was primarily employed at Universal Circuits, Inc. Through the years she also held positions at the Lake Mills Care Center and Bill’s Family Foods in Forest City. Brenda enjoyed musicals, crafting, couponing, and playing Bingo whenever and wherever she had the opportunity. She had a love for dogs, was proud of her Native American heritage, and liked to let people know she was born in England, but nothing could have been more important to her than her son and her beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Kermit; son Kristoffer (fiancée Melissa McGinley); grandchildren Olivia, Raegan and Cael Singelstad; and a grand dog Carver, all of Lake Mills. She is also survived by her twin sister Beth Dinger of Osage, IA, brother Paul (Sue) Dinger of Minneapolis, MN, and sister Susan Swancutt of Cedar Rapids, IA; uncles and aunts Glen Dillon, John Dinger, Larry Dinger and Jan Duggan; the Singelstad relatives: Mike & Deb Singelstad, Monica & Frank Kubesh, Kevin & Robin Singelstad, and Norma Adams; as well as other relatives and friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Lois Dinger, a brother-in-law Steve Swancutt, and her father- and mother-in-law, Alfred and Kari Singelstad.
