A two-vehicle crash at Eagle Ave and 310th Street in Clear Lake sent one driver to Mercy North Iowa; a one-month-old passenger was unharmed.

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Eagle Avenue and 310th Street sent one driver to the hospital Thursday morning, according to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 8:27 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

A 2016 Volkswagen Passat driven by Olivia Maxey-Ladson, 21, of Tacoma, Washington, had stopped at a stop sign at the intersection before proceeding west into the path of a 2020 Ford Expedition, according to the release. The Expedition, driven by Katlyn Vanderpool, 29, of Thompson, was traveling south on 310th Street.

Vanderpool’s vehicle struck the rear passenger door of the Maxey-Ladson vehicle, causing air bags to deploy in both vehicles, the release said.

Vanderpool and her 1-month-old child, who were properly buckled, were not injured in the crash, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Maxey-Ladson was also properly buckled but was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa for evaluation of injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the release said.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Clear Lake Fire Medics, Fertile Fire and First Responders, the Clear Lake Police Department, the Worth County Sheriff’s Department and Lake Towing assisted at the scene, according to the release.
