Hancock and Wright Counties Suffer Damage from Monday Storms (UPDATED)
Strong to severe storms moved through the area late Monday afternoon and early evening. While wind gusts of 60 or more miles per hour were reported, damage was very limited except in Hancock County where the storms began to strengthen.
Hancock and Winnebago County Emergency Manager Andy Buffington outlined some of the damages.

Hail reports were minimal with some locations receiving pea size hail. Buffington stated that the damage was mostly caused by one source.

The storms intensified as they moved further south leaving the area with mostly wind damage.
Belmond City Manager Cody Nicholas stated that his city saw not only the bleachers at the baseball stadium lifted up against the backstop, but trees were downed everywhere.
The weather should remain calmer for the next few days.
