The Winnebago County Fair opened on Wednesday with a number of check-ins and weigh-ins along with the Little Mr. and Miss competitions and the crowning of the Winnebago County Fair Queen.
Attendees will notice a difference in the start time of the fair parade in Thompson which begins an hour earlier according to Lynn Hagenson of the Fair Board.
This year will be very special because of the 250th birthday of the United States. Hagenson stated that the Grand Marshall appointment should reflect the anniversary.
This means that those who served will be honored in the parade.
All military past and present are encouraged to participate.
