Mitchell Engelbarts of Buffalo Center pled guilty to “Operating While Under the Influence, 1st Offense,” a serious misdemeanor, stemming from a traffic stop by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office on May 30, 2026.
Engelbarts was sentenced to two days in jail, or may complete the weekend diversion program. Engelbarts was ordered to pay a civil penalty of $1,250 (half waived due to temporary restricted license), must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and complete all treatment, and complete a drinking driver’s course.
