Mason City Begins Automated Trash Collection

The Mason City Sanitation Department begins its automated trash collection this week. The city has already begun to collect the old blue totes and distribute the new totes for trash and recycling collection. Public Works Director Jim Collins says the city is ready for the new system.

Collins explained that city residents have been made aware of how the program will be done in the city.

Collins explained that the system relies on efficiency and so residents must abide by what has been stipulated on the postcards mailed to them.

Those who did not have their old trash cans collected by the city should contact city hall for further information.
