Forest City Schools Address In Town Transportation

The Forest City Community School Board is looking into making changes to its transportation system, particularly in Forest City according to Forest City Community Schools Superintendent Darwin Lehman.

Lehmann emphasized that the district will continue to provide in town transportation and the daily crossing guard at the elementary school.

Lehmann explained that the district has to look toward maximizing each dollar that the district uses for transportation.

There are several criteria set forth by the state which the district has to follow according to Lehmann.

The district has to try and adjust some of the routing to make sure that the bus time spent by students is minimized as much as possible.

Lehmann believes some students may opt to walk to school if it is within walking distance. State law states that students do no have to be picked upΒ  if they are within a two mile radius from the school, but Lehmann says the district will continue to transport those children as well.
