Statewide Primary Election Results Are In

Several statewide races involving northern Iowa primaries took place on Tuesday night. On the Republican side, Ashley Hinson won her race over Jim Carlin. The United States Representative for District 3 was Zach Nunn and Chris McGowan took the District 4 primary.

The Iowa Republican Governors race was very close. In the end Zach Lahn got 80,765 votes while Randy Feenstra got 79,113. The Iowa Secretary of State race went to Paul Pate. The State Auditor primary went to Chris Cournoyer. The State Treasurer race went to Roby Smith. Mike Naig took the Secretary of Agriculture primary and Brenna Bird won the Attorney General primary.

Despite winning in several area counties, Stacy Besch could not hold off incumbent Dave Rowley for the State Senator in District 5 primary. The final tally was 3,638 to 3,277.

Henry Stone took the Republican primary for State Representative  in District 9.

On the Democratic side, the primary for U. S. Senator went to Josh Turek. The U. S. Representative race for District 3 went to Sarah Trone Garriott. Dave Dawsaon won the District 4 primary.

The Democratic primary race for Governor went to Rob Sand. Ryan Peterman won the Secretary of State primary while Taylor Wettach won the State Auditor primary.  John  Norwood won the State Treasurer primary. The Secretary of Agriculture primary went to Chris Jones. Mate Willems won the Attorney General primary.

There were 127 write ins for State Senator in District 5. There were 129 write ins for District 9. There were 53 write ins for the State Representative in District 9.
