Governor Reynolds Issues Proclamation to Ease Fuel Delivery Restrictions Through Jan. 29

DES MOINES — Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a proclamation to help improve access to heating and motor fuels across Iowa during the winter months.

The proclamation takes effect immediately and runs through 11:59 p.m. on January 29, 2026. It temporarily suspends certain regulations related to hours of service for crews and drivers delivering propane, diesel, natural gas, and other fuels used for residential, agricultural, and commercial heating.

State officials say the action is intended to address increased demand and delivery challenges during the winter season by allowing fuel shipments to move more efficiently throughout the state.

The proclamation also includes provisions aimed at maintaining safety, emphasizing that drivers should not operate vehicles if fatigued and that rest requirements still apply.

The order applies statewide and is intended to help ensure Iowans can access necessary heating fuel during periods of severe winter weather.
