Driver Injured in Single-Vehicle Rollover Near Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa — One person was injured early Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Clear Lake, according to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the crash happened around 7:24 a.m. on January 7 at the intersection of 27th Avenue South and South 40th Street. Authorities report a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT, driven by 21-year-old Conner Thomas of Clear Lake, was traveling eastbound on 27th Avenue South when the vehicle encountered frost-covered road conditions.
The sheriff’s office says the car slid through the intersection, entered the ditch, and rolled. Thomas was transported to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center with minor injuries. Officials say occupant protection was in use at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Clear Lake Fire Department and Clear Lake Police Department.
