Carter Sentenced on Contraband Charges

Marcell Carter of Mason City pled guilty to “Possession of a Contraband in a Jail,” a class D felony, stemming from an investigation by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Carter was sentenced to five years in prison; sentence suspended.
Carter will be under the supervision to the Department of Correctional Services for a period of five years and must obtain a substance abuse and mental health evaluation, and complete all recommended treatment. Carter was also ordered to reside at a residential correctional facility for 180 days or until maximum benefits are achieved.
