Britt City Council to Meet in Closed Session

The Britt City Council will meet this evening in a special session and will open the meeting by discussing business matters. They will then go into closed session. In a release, the city will evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session.

The city formally cited Iowa Code 21.5, specifically Section I which allows for a closed session to handle this form of evaluation of an individual employed by the city. The meeting will take place beginning at 5:30pm tonight in the Britt City Council Chambers.

The council and Mayor Ryan Arndorfer are defendants in a sexual harassment and sex discrimination lawsuit brought on by current Britt Police Chief Mark Anderson. It is not clear if the closed session will involve Anderson. Both he and Arndorfer were not present at the Tuesday evening city council meeting.
