Christine, the daughter of Wallace D. and Cleta (Sliger) Haugen, was born in Iowa City, IA, Aug. 23, 1956.   She grew up in Clear Lake, IA, attending Clear Lake Community Schools and graduated from Clear Lake High School.  She attended NIACC for a time following high school.  During her years growing up the family looked forward to snowmobile outings with many family and friends.
Christine was united in marriage to Douglas Zieman and their union was blessed with a daughter Beth and son Jason.  The couple’s marriage lasted about 15 years before they were eventually divorced.
Following her school, she was employed for a time at E.F. Johnson Corporation in Clear Lake, as a cook at Prairie View in Garner and also as a cook at Eaton Corporation in Belmond.  She had also been employed at Kim and Go Convenience Store in Belmond.  Additionally, Christine had worked alongside her companion since 1995, “J.P.” John Paul Jones, at his Sunny Brooke Restaurant in Rolfe, IA.
For a number of years Christine, J.P. and Beth and Jason lied on a farm near Thornton, IA, before eventually moving to Goodell in the later 1990s.  J.P. passed away on June 19, 2019.  Christine continued to live in Goodell following his passing.
Christine enjoyed the years with J.P., spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending whatever events and activities they were a part of over the years. In the earlier years of her life, she enjoyed playing in pool and bowling leagues in the Clear Lake area.  She enjoyed camping and taking the kids and grandkids on fishing excursions.  She loved to cook and bake and had raised a garden for a time.  She enjoyed watching NCIS and watching cooking shows something she shared with grandson, Connor.  Christine was always up for coffee and a visit from family and friends.  She was a member at the Thornton Methodist Church during her years living there.  Those who knew her will reflect on her as a lady who was unselfish, caring and loving.
Her memory will continue in the lives of her daughter Beth (Dane) Holmgaard, and their family Connor, Kaden, and Katrina, all of Goodell, IA, son Jason (Michelle) Zieman, and their family Amy, Alyssa, Calvyn, Kayla, and Jayden, all of Thornton, IA; J.P’s children: John Kevin (Amanda) Jones and kids, Drake and Tanner, all of Rolfe, IA, Jennifer Jones Rolfe, and her children Jessica Jones of Rolfe, Shelbi Benedict of Ford Doge, Nick and Lyla Benedict of Manson and Eric Benedict of Rolfe, IA; and Christine’s former husband Doug Zieman, Clarion, IA, along with extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, parents Wallace and Cleta, and Companion J.P.
