North Iowa Band Festival Has Local Winners

The 84th Annual North Iowa Band Festival took place in Mason City this past weekend and for 30 area community schools, it was a successful event. The King and Queen of the event were Nolan Balk of Garner Hayfield Ventura and Catherine Dow of Rudd Rockford Marble Rock High Schools. They participated in the parade that was held in downtown Mason City.

The competitions saw Lake Mills High School take the Meredith Wilson Sweepstakes prize. The award signifies the school with the highest overall score in the competition. Exemplifying honor, devotion, and great enthusiasm were the winners of the Spirit of Meredith Wilson Award which was Central Springs High School.

Award winners in their respective classes were in Class 1A Northwood Kensett High School, in 2A Lake Mills High School, and in Class 3A Forest City High School.

Schools that participate receive travel stipends from the North Iowa Band Festival Committee. Each school in the event has continually participated for several years.
