Winnebago County to Share Sanitarian Position

The Winnebago County Public Health Department was looking to fill the vacancy at the Sanitarian position. The job was made available through the retirement of Ron Kvale. According to the head of the department Julie Sorenson, there was interest in the position.

Hancock County hired Chris Heyer as their Sanitarian and he will be shared on a 60/40 split basis according to Sorenson.

Heyer will have to report to both the Hancock and Winnebago County Public Health Department heads. His job will be to do well water testing, plugging, and reconstruction. He will also issue septic and well permits along with promoting radon gas testing.

Sorenson feels confident that both counties are headed in the right direction with Heyer.

Heyer will take over for Kvale beginning in July. He will work with Kvale in the interim.
