West Hancock Awards Nearly 80 Scholarships

Graduating students at West Hancock High School were given a boost towards paying for college with a scholarship night at the West Hancock High School Gymnasium. Students won awards from various family, business, and academic organizations whose goal is to further the opportunities of the younger generation.

West Hancock High School Principal Dan Peterson felt that this was a special night for the seniors at his school.

One of the award recipients was Rylan Barnes who received scholarships on his academic and scholar-athlete performances.

Barnes indicated what his future plans were.

Jenna Marchand also was the recipient of numerous scholarships. Some of these were unexpected awards.

Marchand was the recipient of the KIOW/KHAM Scholarship. She has plans for her future college career.

Peterson was very proud of his graduating class and their accomplishments from their hard work. It showed in the number of students who received the coveted Top of Iowa Conference All-Conference Academic Award.

These scholarships mean a great deal to the students who receive them. It provides opportunities for them to excel and grow into their future dreams. Those who would want to help in this area can easily help set up or join in a scholarship program according to Peterson.
