Forest City Church Seeks Tax Refund from Hancock County

Hancock County officials were recently approached about a tax issue from almost three years ago. Springs of Life Church on Highway 69 in Forest City is owned by a California based group. The county sent paperwork to the California address but never heard back. Hancock County Chair and Supervisor Sis Greiman explained that the county finally got a response.

According to the supervisors, the church parishioners then approached the county to try and straighten out the tax situation by first approaching the County Assessor.

The church then turned to the supervisors to try and get a refund. Greiman explained that the board couldn’t help either.

Supervisor Jerry Tlach stated that the county was not at fault for the tax bill and that the County Assessor followed the proper procedures.
