Lake Mills’ Claire Levine advances to regional final, Newman Catholic wins at Rice Lake

Friday, Rice Lake hosted IGHSAU First-Round Regional girls golf, and though Lake Mills didn’t advance as a team, Claire Levine did enough on her home course to advance as an individual.

After the first three holes, Levine closed the first nine +5 in the final six, including a par on the par three 6th for a first nine total of 48. On the back, she carded a 53 for an 18-hole total of 101, good enough for fifth place and two strokes ahead of seventh place Liz Hamand of Central Springs to transfer to the regional final.

As a team, Lake Mills finished in fourth place, shooting a 433, 16 strokes back of South Hamilton for second place and two strokes behind Central Springs, which finished third.

Newman Catholic eased to the victory, firing a team total of 392, 25 strokes ahead of South Hamilton. While Avery Lichter finished first in the individual race who an 86, a stroke ahead of Rebeah Carlson of South Hamilton and Aubree Sellers of Newman Catholic, both of which finished T-2.
