Dispute Over Easement Leads to Issues with Landowners
The Hancock County Board of Supervisors recently held a public hearing on the engineer’s report regarding the relocation of open ditch located in DD # 151 Lateral 1. Tyler Conway reviewed the project with the board.
The board was presented with a map that outlined the scope of the project.
The portion of land where the right of way is located is 0.27 acres of land. According to Conway, farming is still accessible.
Landowners along the property still raised objections regarding what was promised and what they felt would be delivered.
Hancock County Drainage Clerk Ann Hinders explained that she had promised there would be no additional costs assessed to the landowners for the project.
Regardless, landowners were not happy with the proposed project.
The board heard the objections rendered by the landowners during the public hearing and will make decisions on whether or not to proceed with the project.
