Winnebago Road Crews Begin Rock Work on Secondary Roads

Many area residents who live on secondary roads in Winnebago County may be seeing their roads getting new rock placed down shortly. The season to put down gravel and limestone has begun. Winnebago County Engineer Scott Meinders explained that his road department will be very busy.
According to Meinders, the work that is being done utilizes two different types of material, all of which are locally produced.
The two forms of material lend themselves to certain conditions and even usage according to Meinders.
While the resurfacing is appreciated by those who live on the road being worked on, those who drive it tend to take it slower. A number of factors play into it says Meinders.
Residents may have concerns about whether or not they are going to have their road resurfaced with new gravel or limestone. Meinders explained that this is not uncommon.
The process of hauling rock and then laying it down on the secondary roads takes a long time and asks for patience from everyone who will have their roads done this year.
