The Forest City Council will meet on Monday evening beginning at 7pm in the Council Chambers. Several items will be acted on and/or discussed. You can watch the meeting live on kiow.com.
Mayor Ron Holland will ask the council to approve a proclamation honoring Iowa Motion Pictures Awards Day which will take place on May 6th at both the Forest Theater and the Boman Fine Arts Center. This is an opportunity to bring together filmmakers, artists, and
community members to celebrate the art of cinema, engage in dialogue, and create a platform
for emerging filmmakers, and will also contribute to the local economy by attracting visitors to the city and supporting local businesses.
The council will hear about the DGR review of Electric Department Cash Flow Projections, Projects and Bonding. Asbestos removal in the light plant will also be discussed. Earth Services and Abatement has offered to do the work for $42,500. Advanced Environmental Services has offered to do the work for $28,955. The council must also review an agreement for an After Project Air Quality Test at the Light Plant which will be done by Terracon for $3,350.
The council will review and possibly approve the execution of a Golf Course Grant Agreement by and between the City of Forest City and Bear Creek Run Golf club, Inc. and the lease of certain real property locally known as 145 Country Club Road. Other golf course items include the quote to replace the golf course bridge near hole #11.
The council may be making some changes to the snow removal ordinances. The city wants to include 69.13 of the code of ordinances to read, “No personal shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley or City-owned off-street parking area except where permitted overnight parking is allowed and vehicle displays a current overnight parking permit when the snow is falling and for a period of forty-eight (48) hours after cessation of a snowfall from November 1st through April 1st unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street, alley or parking area.”
The council will conclude the meeting by setting a public hearing for a budget amendment for the Fiscal Year 2023 for May 15th. They will also discuss street closures for the Puckerbrush Days celebration.
