Area SNAP Recipients to Go Through More Stringent Guidelines
Area residents who currently or may qualify for SNAP benefits may see a few more guidelines and requirements placed upon them in order to receive the benefits. The Iowa House of Representatives has been working on a measure concerning this and according to Representative Henry Stone of Forest City, qualified area individuals may see some changes.
These are not the only changes that recipients will have to qualify under according to Stone.
Stone and fellow representatives have been hearing from constituents that the amount seems fairly low. Stone explained that Iowa is actually higher than suggested federal levels.
The measure requires the state to check all financial information that has been provided in order to verify accuracy.
Another provision deals with the vehicles that are owned by the recipients.
The measure, Senate File 494 is headed to Governor Reynolds desk for a signature into law as it has already been passed by the Iowa Senate.
