Kossuth Board Debates GPS Use on County Vehicles

The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors were embroiled in a discussion regarding the use of GPS equipment being installed in county vehicles in order to keep track of employees who use them. In their meeting, it was brought up that supervisors could gain access to the information provided by the GPS systems.
4th District Supervisor Kyle Stecker felt that in order to make informed decisions about employees, their actions, or other pertinent information, board supervisors should have access to the GPS information.
The rest of the supervisors did not feel that way including 2nd District Supervisor Jack Plathe.
The pair began to discuss how an issue would be addressed with Stecker stating that he needed to be informed first and Plathe saying that Stecker would overstep his bounds.
First District Supervisor Carter Nath did not see the need to utilize GPS monitoring outside of the courthouse and felt it best to leave matters up to the department heads.
The board voted 4-1 not to change accessibility with only Stecker voting no.
