STATE XC CLASS 1A Girls RESULTS: North Iowa freshman Hillesland just missed top 15

North Iowa freshman Lauren Hillesland blazed onto the area cross country scene this year, and ended with a solid 17th place finish at state on Friday morning.

Hillesland about her race and finish:

Hillesland finished 12th in her first career meet in a time of 23:30. Since that time, she has been one of the area’s best. After that 12th place finish at the Newman meet, her results were:

4th at Belmond-Klemme

1st at West Fork

2nd at GHV

2nd at Forest City

2nd at Eagle Grove

3rd at the TIC

17th at state.

Hillesland on why she’s been so good this year:

This is the first trip to state as a team for the North Iowa girls since 2013:
