North Iowa freshman Lauren Hillesland blazed onto the area cross country scene this year, and ended with a solid 17th place finish at state on Friday morning.
Hillesland about her race and finish:
Hillesland finished 12th in her first career meet in a time of 23:30. Since that time, she has been one of the area’s best. After that 12th place finish at the Newman meet, her results were:
4th at Belmond-Klemme
1st at West Fork
2nd at GHV
2nd at Forest City
2nd at Eagle Grove
3rd at the TIC
17th at state.
