Both the Hawkeyes’ and Cyclones’ seasons are starting to spin out of control

The bad offense is unraveling the football season at Iowa State, and Iowa and neither team reached the end zone in a loss over the weekend.

The Cyclones only managed three field goals in a 10-9 loss to Kansas State. The Cyclones are 0-3 in the Big 12, and the running game was not a factor for the third straight game.

That’s Iowa State coach Matt Campbell. Jace Gilbert’s three field goals came a week after he missed three in a loss at Kansas.

The Cyclones are 3-3 overall and visit Texas this week.

Iowa’s offense appears to be getting worse, and the Hawkeyes are now 3-3 after a 9-6 loss at Illinois, a game in which the Hawkeyes turned three Illini turnovers into three points.

That’s Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz. As has often been the case this season, the offensive line was overmatched by the Illinois defensive line.

The Hawkeyes are off this week before visiting second-ranked Ohio State.
