North Iowa Schools See Road Construction Being Completed

On Monday, October 3rd, the construction along the North Iowa Community Schools will be completed, and 1st St NW will be open. The following will take place:

Buses will return to their regular loading zone area on the east side of the building. This means that from approximately 3:10-3:35 p.m. (1:40-2:10 p.m. on Wednesdays) this street will be blocked off with no traffic going in either direction.  This is similar to what has taken place in previous years.

Elementary walkers and walk-up parents will still go to the playground (gym if poor weather conditions) and be released from there by staff after traffic has slowed down. School officials ask that the walk-up parents park on the west or north side of the playground. Middle and high school student walkers will be able to exit the south and west side of the building.

After positive feedback from parents, the drive-thru car line will continue for elementary families on the east side of the building in the indicated parking spots, near the Wellness Center entrance (door #4). School officials cannot stress enough that parents must stay in their cars, school officials will not let students cross the street. Vehicles will drive south on 1st St NW, parallel to the playground fence, to join the pick-up line, get their student(s), and turn left to drive east on 4th Ave. NE. The street will remain a two-way street. However, the pick-up line will be one-way from north to south. The middle and high school student pick-up will remain on 3rd Ave. NW
