Winnebago Board to Discuss Grants and Drainage

The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday morning beginning at 9am. The meeting will feature a land survey for the proposed expansion of the Winnebago County Public Health Department building. The board may choose to accept the plans drawn up by Veenstra and Kimm, Incorporated.

Winnebago County Telecom Association is looking to bury fiber optic line running along 130th Avenue. The board will need to approve a utility permit which addresses the project.

At 9:30am, the board will hear from Jacobsen-Westergard Engineering regarding the work that must be done to drainage lines in Drainage District 92. The plan is to eliminate culverts that are hampering flow in the drainage ditches. The engineering firm has developed a plan to circumvent pipelines which may be slowing the drainage down.

The board will also discuss the design of a rural recycling contract. The board is looking at options on how recycling will be done in rural areas of Winnebago County. These include plans where there would be recycling stations in rural towns, or possible door to door pick-up.

The supervisors will continue their discussion on grants offered to homes in unincorporated areas that would help pay for water and sewer reconditioning or new systems. These grants would be $5,000 maximum and be offered to projects of $50,000 or more.
