Seven young ladies in Britt had the opportunity to compete in front of a worldwide audience for the title “Little Miss Britt”.
The Little Miss Britt Pageant is for girls ages 6 to 8 years old, held annually during the kick-off to the National Hobo Convention. KIOW’s Angela Nelson and her daughter Abby Nelson directed the event this year. This year’s pageant featured interviews and a newly added talent portion. Talent consisted of singing, dancing, painting, drawing, reading poetry and blowing duck calls. KIOW video streamed the event, and it can still be found on our website at kiow.com under the Little Miss Britt tab at the top of the page.
Rosaliegh McNeese, daughter of Hunter & Maria McNeese, was crowned the 2022 Little Miss Britt. Rosaliegh said she didn’t cry when her name was announced.
She stated that she had fun with the other contestants before the competition playing games. When it came to the actual pageant, she described her effort.
The painting took just under five minutes, using various colors and numerous brushes and techniques. All of the talents displayed on stage by the contestants were very well done and clearly displayed the high caliber of ability each one possessed. The judges were very challenged in scoring each of them.
The 2022 Little Miss Britt Runner-Up was Mallory Gunderson, daughter of Derek & Kerry Gunderson, and Britt’s Little Miss Congeniality was Ivy Ostercamp, daughter of Zack & Jen Ostercamp.

Other contestants were Eloise Nielsen, daughter of Jamisen & Sheila Nielsen; Avayda Gunderson, daughter of Derek & Kerry Gunderson; Harper Swenson, daughter of Tyler & Stacy Swenson; and Kenley Abele – daughter of Ron & Melissa Abele. Judges remarked the competition was extremely close between all contestants.

Other local sponsors were: Coloff Media and KIOW Radio, Comm 1, Diemer Realty, Kathy’s Groom Room, Britt Chamber of Commerce, Lizard’s Tropical Sno, McNeese Tire & Automotive, The Olde Creamery in Garner, Jay Hiscocks State Farm, CDI LLC., The Britt Bar & Grill, The Flower Cart, Pritchard Auto Company, Gifts Sew Sweet, the Britt Public Library, the City of Britt, and the Britt Hobo Days Association. Angela and Abby Nelson would like to thank all of these sponsors that made this day so special for all of these young ladies, and as Abby said during the competition, “Who knows…you just may be witnessing the next Miss America”.
