Clear Lake City Council to Discuss CURAP and TIF Districts

The Clear Lake City Council will meet tonight at 6pm to discuss amendments to the Consolidated Urban Renewal Area Plan (CURAP) and Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Districts. Chad Schreck of the Corridor Economic Development Corporation met with the council in July and alluded to the fact that the old Serta Simmons Building had been purchased by an unspecified buyer. According to Schrek, the new owner was intending to begin light manufacturing with the expected employment of nearly 50 workers.

The Serta Simmons building could be placed into a property tax rebate agreement along with other projects including the Pritchards Innovation Center, the 700 block of Buddy Holly Place Alley improvements and others.

The council is expected to hold a public hearing on the matter tonight.
