Area Officials Give Simple Safety Tips During Hot Weather

The next several days are going to be of concern for area officials as heat indices reach the century mark in the area. One of the greatest concerns is leaving pets or people in cars.

Winnebago and Hancock County Emergency Manager Andy Buffington advises that this is not a good idea, no matter the length of time.

There are individuals who need to check on shut-ins and the elderly. These are some of the most susceptible to the heat.

Making a phone call to check on them may not be the best solution. Meeting them face to face will assure you and others that they are alright.
