Area Officials Urge Caution During This Week’s Extreme Heat

Concerns are on the rise just like the temperatures this week. The heat may pose a problem to some area residents. Heat index values may reach in the 100-degree range this week and the Emergency Manager for Winnebago and Hancock County Andy Buffington urges everyone to take some basic precautions.

Everyone should become familiar with the signs of heat stroke or exhaustion.

Heat stroke or exhaustion can lead to death if not attended to properly. Buffington says there are steps everyone can take to avoid these health hazards.

If you have to work outside, there are some things you should do according to Buffington.
