Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) joined Democrats and Republicans on the Senate floor to endorse the addition of Finland and Sweden to the NATO Alliance:
Just a few days ago, Ernst joined a bipartisan trip to Europe that included stops in Finland and Sweden to meet with heads of state and to partake in other important bilateral meetings, as well as a stop in Spain where she participated in NATO’s 2022 Madrid Summit.
In May, Ernst joined a bipartisan group of her colleagues in a joint statement of support and a letter to President Biden, calling for Finland’s and Sweden’s swift accession into NATO in response to the respective nations announcing their intent to join the transatlantic Alliance. Ernst also sent a letter alongside Senators Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) to President Biden, urging him to work with NATO to prioritize combatting Chinese aggression in NATO’s strategic concept.
