Career Center Offers Local Opportunity to Succeed

The John K. Hanson Career Center in Forest City has been busy with several distinguished guests including U. S. Senator Joni Ernst and last week U. S. Representative Randy Feenstra. The center plays a vital role in the connection between high school and collegiate opportunity. Four area high schools, Forest City, Lake Mills, North Iowa, and Garner Hayfield Ventura send students to study at the school. Area residents can also take classes at the school too.

Jim Haag is the Director at the center, and he explained that the school was started through legislation that enhanced technical career education.

Haag along with a number of educators, city and state leaders, all believe that the center fills a niche.

According to Haag, there is room for expansion to allow other high schools to participate in the programs.

The high school students are generally at the center studying ion the four major programs offed by NIACC. Later in the day, things begin to shift over to the general public attending according to Haag.

Those who would like to learn what programs or classes are available can contact NIACC at (888) 466-4222.
