Iowa’s unemployment rate in June remained at 2.7 percent, leaving the state tied for the nation’s third-lowest rate.
Iowa Workforce Development released the rate Friday and noted the number of unemployed residents dropped from an estimated 46,000 in May to 44,900 in June. The number of residents with jobs increased in June to 1.635 million.
Iowa’s June rate compares to a national rate of 4 percent.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that Hawaii had the lowest unemployment rate, at 2.1 percent. North Dakota was second, at 2.6 percent. Iowa’s rate tied with Colorado and New Hampshire.
