A strong week in South Carolina came to an end with a pair of one-run contests for the Warriors, and Waldorf splitting the two close ballgames.
After starting Friday morning with a 3-2 win over NCAA Division II foe Glenville State (W.V.), the Warriors just missed winning their fourth straight, falling 6-5 to Cardinal Stritch (Wis.).
“We played in two games today that it was tough to see either team lose,” Waldorf head coach Lexy Determan said. “We were glad to come out on the top end of one, and unfortunate to be at the losing end of one game.”
The Friday split left the Warriors with a 9-9 overall record, and a 5-3 mark in the Fastpitch Dreams Collegiate spring break tournament.
“Overall we had a good week,” Determan said, adding, “and we discussed the fact that the only way the losses are bad is if we don’t learn something from them.”
“I’m excited to see where this team can go,” Waldorf’s coach added.
Next up for the Warriors (9-9 overall, 3-1 NSAA) is the teams home opener – weather permitting – as Waldorf is scheduled to host Briar Cliff in a doubleheader on Wednesday, with first pitch at 3 p.m.
