Forest City football team falls to New Hampton 28-14, Volleyball team wins South Hardin Tournament

The Forest City football team fell to New Hampton 28-14 in their homecoming game Friday night. The Indians took the lead early on a Luke Johnson to Sam Snyder 14 yard touchdown pass just 92 seconds into the game. After going to halftime tied at 7, New Hampton scored 2 touchdowns, before the Indians answered with a 74 yard Johnson to Micah Lambert catch and run to cut the lead the 21-14. New Hampton tacked on a 4th quarter touchdown to finish the scoring. Chris Jermeland led the Indians on defense with 7 solo tackles, 6 assists, 2 tackles for loss, and an interception. Forest City is now 0-3, and travels to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Friday night.

The Forest City volleyball team won the South Hardin tournament by going 4-0 Saturday. The Indians defeated Oelwein 2 sets to 1, and swept Edgewood-Colesburg, Grand View Christian, and AGWSR. Forest City is now 8-0, and plays host to West Hancock tomorrow night. Orin Harris will have the live play by play, with prematch at 6:55, and first serve at 7 PM.

The Lake Mills volleyball team won the Central Springs Invitational by going 6-0. The Bulldogs swept Newman Catholic, Rockford, Northwood-Kensett, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, and Clarksville, and defeated Central Springs in 3 sets. Ashley Groe had 134 assists in the setter role, Mallory Wilhelm had 42 kills, Teah Kesler 36, and Megan Groe 23 for the day. Lake Mills is now 15-1, and travels to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura tomorrow night.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team went 1-2 at the Belmond-Klemme tournament. The Cardinals defeated West Hancock, and fell to Iowa Falls-Alden and West Fork.
